The American Association of Neurological Surgeons is dedicated to increasing international participation in AANS. These pages focus on information of particular interest to neurosurgeons and allied medical professionals practicing outside of the United States.

News/Announcements

  • The AANS created a content library of videos, podcast and other content for use on iPod mobile devices. Learn more.

  • The AANS Annual Scientific Meeting offers a collaboration with colleagues from the Federacion Latino Americana de Sociedades de Neurocirugia (FLANC). During the International Symposium, speakers from Latin America will share their experience and participate in round-table discussions in various subspecialties including cerebrovascular, spine, tumors and more. The Symposium will be followed by a Wine and Cheese Reception for all attendees.

  • Please plan to attend the International Reception during the AANS Annual Scientific Meeting held at 6:30 – 8:00 pm on Monday, April 16th at Bongo's Cuban Café in Miami, Florida.

  • Can't attend the meeting? For the first time AANS plenary sessions will be streamed live. More information will be posted on our annual meeting pages as it becomes available. Access to recorded presentations is available for purchase.

Award Announcements:

  • AANS International Lifetime Recognition Award
    AANS will honor Leonidas Quintana, MD from Chili for his lifetime contributions to neurosurgery, both in Chili and internationally.

  • Recipients of the 2012 AANS International Visiting Surgeon Fellowship will be announced by the end of February. More information. Watch for announcements of winners of the Best International Abstract Award, and the AANS International Travel Scholarship.

  • Journal of Neurosurgery Publishing Group
    Journal articles older than 12 months through 10 years are available on the JNSPG website as open access. Articles older than 10 years can be purchased as a single article, through "pay per view."
