2012 Advanced Neurosurgical Resident Education/Training Courses

The American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS) continues to offer FREE courses to neurosurgical residents thanks to the collaborative efforts of AANS and our valued corporate partners to support advanced resident educational training in topic areas not always covered within neurosurgical residency. The Residency Program Directors/Department Chairs are notified of these resident course opportunities approximately twelve weeks in advance of each course and are asked to nominate one resident and one alternate from their program to attend each course, based upon specified course criteria.

  • Spinal Deformity: March 30-April 1 in Baltimore; Course Director ­— Robert Heary, MD, FAANS

  • Stereotactic Radiosurgery: Aug 3-5 in Chicago; Course Co-directors — Jason Sheehan, MD, PhD, FAANS; and John Suh, MD, in collaboration with ASTRO

  • Endovascular Techniques for Residents: Oct 18 in Memphis; Course Co-directors — Adam S. Arthur, MD, MPH, FAANS, FACS; and Erol Veznedaroglu, MD, FAANS

  • Fellows Course in Endovascular Techniques: Oct 19-20 in Memphis; Course Co-directors — Adam S. Arthur, MD, MPH, FAANS, FACS; and Erol Veznedaroglu, MD, FAANS in collaboration with SNIS and SVIN

  • Skull Base for Senior Residents: Oct. 11-14 in Memphis; Course Director — Jon H. Robertson, MD, FAANS

  • Fundamentals in Spinal Surgery: Nov 8-10 in Chicago; Course Co-directors — R. Patrick Jacob, MD, FAANS, FACS; and Praveen V. Mummaneni, MD, FAANS

  • Vascular Techniques for Residents: Nov. 30-Dec. 1 in Memphis; Course Co-directors — Adam S. Arthur, MD, MPH, FAANS, FACS; and Michael Lawton, MD, FAANS
