AANS Joint Sponsorship Guidelines

Do you meet the AANS joint sponsorship requirements?

In order to be considered for joint sponsorship the audience of your activity must be at least 50% North American neurosurgeons; your organization must be a non ACCME accredited provider and the mission statement, purpose or function of your organization must be congruent with the AANS CME Mission Statement.

If you are able to comply with the above, you must also comply with the following:

  • The non-refundable application fee must be received at the time the application is submitted. An invoice for the additional joint sponsorship service fee, as outlined in the joint sponsorship fee structure, will be sent after your activity date.
  • There must be a neurosurgeon representative assigned as the contact for the joint sponsorship process. The neurosurgeon CME contact appointed by your organization will serve as the liaison to the AANS Joint Sponsorship Council and to AANS staff. The representative is vital to the joint sponsorship process and provides the link required by ACCME for integral involvement in the activity. The CME neurosurgeon contact’s responsibilities include:
    • Review and/or submission of the online application to the AANS
    • Review and/or submission of all required documentation
    • Participation in activity program planning, meetings and discussions
    • Participation in the Joint Sponsorship Council meetings
    • Attendance at the jointly sponsored CME activity
    • Collection and submission of post-meeting materials to the AANS
    • Communication and correspondence with the AANS staff throughout the joint sponsorship process
  • You must provide all required activity material for review and approval to AANS prior to printing/distributing.

Upon approval of your joint sponsorship application, you will be provided a timeline and checklist of all additional requirements. The material outlined on the timeline and checklist is required in order for the AANS to provide CME credits for each jointly sponsored activity.

Failure to meet the ACCME and AANS requirements will result in loss of CME for your activity and puts AANS' accreditation status in jeopardy.

The AANS reserves the right to limit the number of joint sponsorship applications that are processed each year in an effort to continue to provide cutting-edge, compliant CME activities that meet the needs of all neurosurgeons and allied health professionals.
